Tourism Is Happening in Oaxaca
In her February 20th 2018 article entitled “New Hotels, Airlift to Drive Travel to Oaxaca,” writer Ana Figueroa of Travel Agent Central highlighted Vivo Resorts in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.
The Travel Agent Central article states that, “Big things are happening in Oaxaca” where “Tourism is the state’s biggest industry.” The main cruise port in Oaxaca is in Huatulco. With nine bays and 36 beaches, Huatulco has quickly become the state’s most well-known tourist destination.
According to Figueroa however, there’s another easily accessible gem only 109 kilometers (68 miles) from Huatulco – Puerto Escondido.
Puerto Escondido is, “A surfing haven on the southern tip of Oaxaca’s Emerald Coast” with pristine, cove-lined beaches, and warm Pacific Coast waters. It is along the 12-mile stretch of Palmarito Beach in Puerto Escondido that Canadian developer Cary Mullen decided to build his luxury low rise condominium community called Vivo Resorts.
Construction on Vivo Resorts began only 6 short years ago. Vivo now boasts over 100 condo units, 10 private villas, and the newly opened Vivo Clubhouse complete with business center, general store, restaurants, spa, sports facilities, and much more.
Although Vivo was designed as a gated community for condo ownership, they also offer a rental program for Vivo owners. Only 25% of Vivo rentals are from American visitors with the majority coming from Canada. Puerto Escondido also has its own international airport. “More airlift is coming from the U.S. and Canada, which is great news for us,” said Mullen.
From deep sea fishing, surfing, and boating, to beach horseback riding, hot springs, and white water rafting, Vivo guests can find plenty of things to see and do. In Mullen’s own words, “We cater here to the eco-minded traveler, wherever they come from. There are lots of different excursions guests can take part in.”
