Travel Pulse – Paradise Found on Pacific Coast of Mexico

Vivo Resorts on Mexico’s Emerald Coast is fronted by 12 miles of unspoiled beach!

In her October 18, 2018 Vivo Travel Pulse article for the Hotel & Resort section, writer Mimi Kmet called Vivo Resorts, “Paradise Found.” Travel Pulse is an online magazine for the Mexico Tourism Board.

According to developer Cary Mullen, a former Canadian World Cup alpine skier and Olympian, “Vivo means – Alive!”

Vivo is now a recognized “brand” for Vivo Resorts Oaxacan Beachfront Living in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. This is a place, says Mullen, “where you can be happier, healthier, and more connected.”

Vivo Resorts is a gated, 75-acre, luxurious resort condo complex on Palmarito Beach, just 15-minutes from the Oaxacan town of Puerto Escondido. With a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor, Vivo Resorts has won a number of prestious awards in recent years including:

  • TripAdvisor’s 2017 Certificate of Excellence
  •’s 2017 Outstanding Service Award
  • Luxury Travel Guide’s 2016 Luxury Resort of the Year in Mexico Award

According to the Vivo Travel Pulse article, Vivo opened its first 12-unit single tower in 2012. Vivo Resorts has since grown to 120 luxury condo units. The complex will have over 600 luxury beachfront condos at full build-out plus 114 private villa homes. The new Vivo Clubhouse also recently opened (in December 2017) that includes a fitness center, business center, lounge, event space, restaurant, and a kid’s club, plus much, much more.

For select condo owners, Vivo also offers a unique Airbnb-style condo rental program that allows travelling vacationers to book their condo unit for a holiday through the Vivo Vacations website.

Things to Do in Pureto Escondido

Fronted by 12-miles of unspoiled beach and located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur Mountain Range, there’s no shortage of things to do at Vivo Resorts.

A nearby lake and the warm 85-degree Pacific Ocean offer unlimited water sports. You can try your hand at deep-sea fishing, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, whale watching, and much more.

This “eco-wonderspot,” as Mullen calls it, also offers unlimited things to do on land. Along with a variety of local eco tours there’s beach yoga, beach horseback riding, plus sea-turtle rescue through Vivo’s own Vivo Foundation. Vivo even offers Spanish language classes and other cultural emersion programs to Vivo residents and guests.

Puerto Escondido – Easily Accessible

In her Vivo Travel Pulse article, Kmet quotes Cary Mullen as saying, “I realized I wanted the ocean, my kids wanted beaches, and I fell in love with Puerto Escondido…I feel Mother Nature really blessed this area.”

To find his “paradise” Mullen scouted over a dozen countries around the world. He chose Puerto Escondido partly for its accessibility, but also for the climate, culture, food, and authenticity of the region.

Known primarily as a fishing town, Puerto Escondido, which has a population of about 45,000, has long been one of those world-class “must surf” destinations (and best kept secrets) for avid surfers. With at least 6 local surfing beaches and ideal year-round weather, it’s no wonder that CNN Travel rated Puerto Escondido #8 on their list of the world’s best surfing destinations.

Puerto Escondido has it’s own airport and is easily accessible from most major North American cities through Mexico City International Airport (MEX). Hualtuco, which is just an hour from Puerto Escondido, also accepts international flights from most major North American carriers.
