Vivo Resorts Puerto Escondido MX – Hidden, but Not for Long

Writer Sabrina Pirillo wrote a Family Fun Canada article for Mexico News & Reviews about a family friendly vacation in Mexico at Vivo Resorts in Puerto Escondido, “a hidden gem…but not for long!”

What Is Vivo Resorts?

The full name is Vivo Resorts Oaxacan Beachfront Living. According to Pirillo, Vivo Resorts is a private “gated community of luxurious condominiums and private homes featuring ocean and mountain views; the best of both worlds!”

Vivo Resorts was the brainchild of Cary Mullen, a former World Cup Downhill ski champion, Canadian Olympian, and motivational speaker turned developer.

Mullen built Vivo Resorts on Palmarito Beach, which is part of a 21-km (12-mile) stretch of untouched sandy beaches. Fronted by the warm Pacific Ocean and backed by the foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountain range, Vivo Resorts is ideally situated.

This family friendly vacation destination is also just 14-km from the town of Puerto Escondido (population 45,000+) and only a 25-minute car ride from the Puerto Escondido airport, which accepts flights from Mexico City. Huatulco airport, which is about an hour away, also accepts direct international flights.

Ideal Family Friendly Resort

Luxury is what best describes the beachfront condos at Vivo Resorts. Yet, Vivo Resorts is structured to accommodate families on a budget. Mexico News & Reviews writer Sabrina Pirillo offers these recommendations about Vivo Resorts, “the” place to enjoy a family friendly vacation in Mexico.

Spacious Condominium Suites – Each luxury condo suite features a spacious master bedroom, plus a living room, dining area, and balcony with exceptional ocean or mountain views. One, two, and three-bedroom condos are available to accommodate most families.

Fully Equipped Kitchen – Buy local at Puerto Escondido’s Mercado Benito Juarez Market and cook your own meals…this is the best way to save on dining costs and still enjoy the absolute best in farm-to-table freshness.

Laundry Facilities – Each suite has its own washer and dryer so you can do your own laundry.

On-Site Amenities – Enjoy a family friendly vacatioin in Mexico at a complex that offers plenty of on-site amenities for families including a kid’s club, family pool with water slide, a general store, tennis courts, pickleball courts, swim-up bar, and two infinity pools. The Vivo Clubhouse is complete with a business center, yoga and exercise center, restaurant, an events space, and much more!

On-Site Restaurant – Ernesto’s Restaurant is located within the Vivo Clubhouse so if you don’t feel like cooking you can go enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine with the family without having to go off-site.

Senses Spa by Elaina – This is an outdoor oasis where parents can relax and enjoy some quiet time of their own.

Mezcalina’s Sports Lounge – This is another place of respite for travelling parents!

Shuttle Bus Service – Vivo Resorts also offers a shuttlebus service to and from Puerto Escondido.

Things to Do for Families

There are also plenty of activities and things to do in Puerto Escondido as you enjoy your family friendly vacation in Mexico.

Baby Turtle Release Program – Run through the Vivo Foundation, Vivo guests can participate in the sea turtle release program, an unforgettable experience that happens only at select times each year. So far, the program has released nearly 300,000 baby sea turtles. For more information see Vista Puerto’s article “Arrival of the Turtles Is An Impressive Event.”

Dolphin & Whale Sightings – Vivo staff will blow the conch shell 3 times to signal when whales and dolphins can be spotted from shore.

Laguna Manialtepec – Here you can see the rare occurrence of bioluminescence on the waters of the lagoon similar to that famous scene in the movie Life of Pi. Bioluminescence is the emission of light by a living organism.

Puerto Escondido Beaches – There are 7 beaches in total with the most popular being Zicatela Beach, Manzanillo Beach, Playa Carrizalillo and the surfing break at La Punta beach.

Day of the Dead Festival – Known as or Dia de Muertos in Spanish, the Day of the Dead celebrations honors friends and family members who have passed on. The Festival begins October 31st and runs until November 2nd and is a highly celebrated Mexican holiday.
