7 Most Underrated Family Vacations in Mexico
In her September 5, 2018 article for Family Vacation Critic, writer Cynthia Drake chose 7 destinations in Mexico that she felt are underrated for family vacations and worth adding to your bucket list.
Drake rated Puerto Escondio Oaxaca second on her list. The other underrated Mexico locations that Puerto Escondio Oaxaca shared the spotlight with include:
- Mexico City
- Todos Santos
- San Miguel de Allende
- Isla Holbox
These places “…go relatively undiscovered by tourists” writes Drake, adding, “Though they still have plenty to offer to intrepid family travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences, tasty cusiune and a great vacation value.”
Drake mentioned Oaxaca City, which is the captial of Mexico’s southern state of Oaxaca and the inspriation behind Disney’s 2017 smash hit “Coco.” She wrote that Oaxaca “…offers an excellent off-the-beaten path itinerary for families.” However, if your family is looking for the ultimate beachfront vacation, Drake recommends you check out Vivo Resorts Oaxacan Beachfront Living near Puerto Escondido, MX.
Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca MX
Puerto Escondido is an emerging location that offers visitors fantastic beaches, ideal stable weather, and a true taste of authentic Mexico. Puerto Escondido is a quiet beachfront surfing community of just over 45,000 and located only 100-km west of Huatulco. To get a sense of Puerto Escondido, just imagine what the resort town of Pureto Vallarta must have been like 35-years ago, before the throngs of tourists and the many large all-inclusive resort hotel chains. While Puerto Escondido is accessible via the Huatulco International Airport, North Americans can fly directly into Puerto Escondido airport via Mexico City.
Stay at Vivo Resorts in Puerto Escondido
Located on Palmarito Beach just outside of Pureto Escondido, Vivo Resorts is a 75-acre, private gated community resort fronted by over 12-miles of pristine Pacific Ocean beaches. Vivo, which broke ground in 2010, was the brainchild of former Canadian Oympian turned developer Carey Mullen. Vivo is Puerto Escondido’s first beachfront resort and currently has over 100 luxury condo suites, many of which are available as vacation rentals through Vivo’s well managed Vivo Vacations website.
In her article, Drake wrote that Vivo offers “a relaxing trip that you can also fill with educational and cultural experiences…with planned activities throughout the day,” including a turtle release program that families can participate in.
