The title of Carrie Coolidge’s Forbes Vivo Resorts article from September 12, 2019 reads, “This Stunning $200 Million Resort in Mexico Was Developed by An Ex-Olympian.”
Coolidge is referring, of course, to former Canadian Olympian and World Cup downhill ski champion Cary Mullen. At 49, Mullen is now a third-generation real estate veteran.
Mullen called his luxury Mexico condo development, “Vivo Resorts Oaxacan Beachfront Living.”
In the Forbes Vivo Resorts article, Coolidge describes Vivo as a luxurious 75-acre, gated, resort community development situated right on Palmarito Beach about ten miles outside of Puerto Escondido MX. Mullen’s luxury beachfront condominiums and private homes are located along a 12-mile stretch of unspoiled beach in the state of Oaxaca. Perhaps Mullen said it best, “Mother nature really blessed this area.”
This location, near the equator, along the Pacific side of southern Mexico is affectionately known as the “Emerald Coast!” This is a place that enjoys:
- Exceptionally mild weather
- Relatively low rainfall
- Year-round temperatures in the low eighties
- A relative humidity that is rarely above 73
- Pacific Ocean water that is warmer than in Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta, or the Caribbean
“I wanted to create an experience that actually made people feel better after their vacation was done,” says Mullen, adding, “Here, guests feel rejuvenated after their time with us.”
Finding the Perfect Location
Before construction began, Mullen literally scrutinized the best tropical beach locations in the world looking for that perfect combination of exceptional weather, low hurricane risk, accessibility, and a safe local culture. He also wanted a place that had great investment potential, especially for the condo owners.
“We strive to be the best beachfront value in North America and Mexico,” Mullen says. “We deliver on both quality of service and the location.”
Mullen’s ultimate goal was to create a place that could be enjoyed by all 3 generations of family. As Coolidge wrote in her Forbes Vivo Resorts article, Mullen envisioned “…a place where both his parents could retire that would also serve as a perfect vacation destination for his young children.”
Vivo Resorts promotes an active healthy lifestyle for its residents and guests.
While at Vivo, you can enjoy the daily freshness of farm-to-table organic food. For activities, try one of their infinity pools or the resort’s Senses Spa wellness center. Or, choose from a wide array of available activities at the newly opened 53,000 sq. foot Vivo Clubhouse. The Clubhouse also includes a restaurant, a lounge, a fitness center, Yoga studio, a business center and library, a general store, and even a kid’s club!
Buying A Luxury Condo at Vivo Resorts
Began in 2009, Vivo Resorts is only halfway through completion. This Mexican paradise currently has 7 towers with 135 luxury condos ranging from 400 to 2000 sq. feet (over 90% of which have ocean views). Vivo also presently has 17 villa-style private homes.
The finished towers at Vivo Resorts are sold out, including the newly completed, 20-residence Laguna condo tower. However, there are two towers now under construction that do currently have luxury Mexico condos for sale, including:
- Marino Residences, which will have 31 luxury condos (90% sold as of this writing)
- Nautico Residences, which will have 28 luxury condo suites (70% sold as of this writing)
The new nature-influenced low rise Botanica is now in the planning stages and will include ocean views, tropical garden courtyards, and its own secluded pool.
All condo units include a washer and dryer plus full kitchen appliances and owners can choose from four available turnkey finishing packages.
Eventually, the Vivo master plan calls for over 400 luxury condo units and 115 private villa-style homes in total, plus its own shopping plaza. The complex also includes purified water from a deep freshwater aquifer and an ecological onsite sewage treatment facility that cleans grey water for use in landscaping.
The Forbes Vivo Resorts article cited Cary Mullen as also wanting to create options for Vivo condo owners. That’s why he created the Vivo Rental Program. Fully managed by Vivo Resorts, condo owners can rent out their units while they are away. Vivo handles all the marketing as well as reservations and the entire guest experience. Vacationers can book luxury condos at Vivo Resorts through Vivo Vacations.
