Hurricane Activity
The maps you see here have been generated from the website of the NOAA, commonly referred to as the Hurricane Center. You are looking at all the Hurricanes and tropical storms since 1851.
The colored lines represent storm tracks, the path the storm followed during its lifespan. The legend explains the types of storms, Class 1 - 5 hurricanes as well as all types of tropical storms.
You can see on the lower map showing the Puerto Escondido coastline in detail, that since 1851 Puerto Escondido has experienced a direct hit from one Class 1 hurricane and one tropical depression storm.
